Apollo 11
Apollo 11 was the first crewed mission to land on the Moon. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module Eagle on 20 July 1969, while Michael Collins remained in lunar orbit in the command module Columbia. Armstrong became the first person to walk on the Moon; Aldrin joined him about twenty minutes later. The mission was launched by a Saturn V from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center on 16 July 1969 and returned to Earth on 24 July 1969, fulfilling the goal set by President Kennedy.
