fix(desktop): enforce owner-only access in internal builds (#4053)
## Problem Managed agents in internal Buzz builds should answer only their owner. Previously, an agent could keep a broader access setting and respond to other people, which did not match the access policy for internal builds. This PR makes owner-only access effective for every managed agent in internal builds and makes that restriction clear in the Desktop UI. Open source builds remain configurable. ## Changes - Enforce owner-only access when any managed agent starts or is deployed from an internal build. - Show the agent access control as locked to **Only me** in Desktop, with an explanation of why it cannot be changed. - Keep Welcome teammates working under the same rule without triggering unnecessary restarts. - Leave open source build behavior unchanged. This changes effective runtime access without rewriting stored or relay-advertised settings. The companion [#4064](https://github.com/block/buzz/pull/4064) explains the restriction in-thread when someone without access mentions an agent. feat(desktop): instance-level agents nav with atomic workspace-scope capture
Add owner-consent archive/unarchive commands, workspace-epoch seqlock
protocol, NIP-IA ownership classifier, and Instances Sheet UI.
Rust (desktop/src-tauri):
- WorkspaceEpochWriteGuard (workspace_epoch.rs): RAII seqlock writer guard
with SeqCst ordering, writer-mutex serialization, and guaranteed even
restoration on every exit path including panic/unwind. All three production
key writers (resolve_persisted_identity, commit_imported_identity,
apply_workspace) participate; apply_workspace spans its compound
override+keys mutation under one guard.
- AppState extended with workspace_epoch: AtomicU64 + workspace_write:
Mutex<()> for the seqlock protocol.
- capture_archive_scope: bounded-retry reader that accepts only equal-and-even
epoch samples, ensuring keys and relay_url_override come from one workspace
generation.
- ArchiveScope { keys, actor, api_base_url, workspace_epoch }: immutable
snapshot consumed by every fetch/classify/mint/sign/submit in the scoped
archive operation.
- NipIaOwnerProof classifier: enum verified|missing_profile|missing_auth|
multiple_auth_tags|invalid_auth|owner_mismatch. Reuses verify_auth_tag
(syntax + signature only, no condition-clause evaluation per NIP-IA rule 6).
- scoped_archive_operation: single non-Tauri fn owning the full
fetch→classify→mint→build/sign→submit pipeline for both 9035 (archive) and
9036 (unarchive). Fresh empty-condition auth tag minted after Verified
classification; never copies the profile tag.
- archive_agent / unarchive_agent: thin #[tauri::command] wrappers.
- Keyring helpers extracted to app_state_keyfile_ops.rs to stay under the
file-size ratchet (app_state.rs: 998 gate lines, limit 1080).
- Relay acceptance tests (identity_archive/tests/identity_archive_relay_tests.rs):
five #[ignore]d tests requiring live relay+Postgres, selected by the new
desktop-tauri-relay-acceptance just recipe and the Backend Integration CI
gate. Tenant fixture makes Self and Admin impossible; 9035 asserts
consent_path='owner' in Postgres; 9036 asserts emitted delta.
- Deterministic epoch protocol tests (app_state_epoch_tests.rs): no infra,
always-required in desktop-tauri-test/Desktop Core gate. Tests: initial
capture, writer exclusion+capture retry, RAII restoration (drop/early-
return/catch_unwind), poisoned-mutex error, mixed-generation barrier test.
TypeScript (desktop/src):
- tauriIdentityArchive.ts: archiveAgent/unarchiveAgent Tauri bindings.
- hooks.ts: useOwnedAgentInventoryQuery hook with additive cache invalidation.
- InstancesSheet.tsx: instances sheet opened from Instances (N) card action;
shows tri-state archive status, start-control safeguard for 3rd instance.
- PersonaActionsMenu.tsx: onViewInstances prop wired to InstancesSheet.
- UnifiedAgentsSection.tsx: Instances button in agent card actions.
- relayQueryInvalidation.ts: ownedAgentInventoryQueryKey registration.
CI/Justfile:
- desktop-tauri-relay-acceptance just recipe: _ensure-sidecar-stubs +
nextest selector for in-crate relay acceptance module.
- Backend Integration (relay e2e) job: new step just desktop-tauri-relay-
acceptance after relay startup; job if extended to desktop-rust; Tauri Linux
apt deps + rust-cache for desktop/src-tauri; timeout raised.

fix(local-archive): default both archive settings to enabled (#4750)
## Overview
Both local archive settings — "Archive my agents' observer frames" (kind
24200) and "Archive my agents' turn metrics" (kind 44200) — previously
defaulted to OFF in OSS builds, controlled by build-time env vars. This
had an irreversible cost: observer frames are ephemeral (not stored by
the relay), so any missed events are permanently unrecoverable. This PR
makes both settings default to enabled for all builds and removes the
build-time flag machinery entirely.
## What changed
### Rust
- `observer_archive_default_enabled()` — returns `true` unconditionally;
removed `option_env!("BUZZ_DESKTOP_BUILD_OBSERVER_ARCHIVE_DEFAULT")`
check and `nest_is_dev()` runtime fallback.
- `agent_metric_archive_default_enabled()` — returns `true`
unconditionally; removed
`option_env!("BUZZ_DESKTOP_BUILD_AGENT_METRIC_ARCHIVE_DEFAULT")` check
and its OSS-build test.
- `build.rs` — removed both `rerun-if-env-changed` declarations
(`BUZZ_BUILD_OBSERVER_ARCHIVE_DEFAULT`,
`BUZZ_BUILD_AGENT_METRIC_ARCHIVE_DEFAULT`) and the two baked-env
emitting blocks.
### Build / CI
- `Justfile` — removed `desktop-tauri-test-compiled-flags` recipe (the
dual-compile test machinery).
- `.github/workflows/ci.yml` — removed the "Desktop Tauri compiled-flag
verification" CI step.
### TypeScript
- `useObserverArchiveSeed.ts` — removed `observerArchiveDefaultEnabled`
dep from `ObserverArchiveSeedDeps` and the `policyOn` gate in
`reconcileObserverArchive`; the function now unconditionally calls
`mergeSaveSubscriptionKinds`.
- `useAgentMetricArchiveSeed.ts` — removed
`agentMetricArchiveDefaultEnabled` dep from `AgentMetricArchiveSeedDeps`
and the `defaultOn` flag-check path in `maybeSeed`; the
`hasExplicitChoice` guard is preserved as the sole gate against
re-seeding.
- `LocalArchiveSettingsCard.tsx` — removed `policy` prop,
`observerPolicy` state, and `observerArchiveDefaultEnabled` fetch from
`ObserverArchiveSection`; toggle is now always enabled (just `toggling`
disables it); removed the stale "Always on for internal builds" copy
branch; removed the `observerPolicy !== false` guard from
`handleObserverToggle`.
- `tauriArchive.ts` — updated JSDoc on both default-enabled functions to
reflect always-true.
- `e2eBridge.ts` — changed both mock defaults from `?? false` to `??
true` so E2E tests without an explicit mock override exercise the real
default behavior.
### Tests
- `useObserverArchiveSeed.test.mjs` — replaced `policyOn` dep with
direct merge dep; updated `test_oss_policy_off_no_merge` →
`test_reconcile_always_seeds_24200`; all cancellation, identity-switch,
and ordering tests adapted.
- `useAgentMetricArchiveSeed.test.mjs` — removed `defaultOn` dep and
`test_oss_build_does_not_seed`; updated
`test_internal_build_unset_seeds_*` → `test_default_enabled_*`;
`hasExplicitChoice` guard tests unchanged.
## Preservation of explicit opt-outs
Users who have previously toggled the setting off are unaffected:
- `useAgentMetricArchiveSeed` skips seeding when
`hasExplicitChoice(pubkey)` returns true (localStorage-persisted per
identity).
- Observer archive reconciliation now unconditionally calls
`mergeSaveSubscriptionKinds`, but a user who already deleted the
subscription can turn it off via the Settings toggle, which calls
`removeSaveSubscriptionKind` — this is the existing explicit opt-out
path, and the toggle is now always enabled (not locked by a policy
flag).
## Result
- No `BUZZ_BUILD_*_ARCHIVE_DEFAULT` /
`BUZZ_DESKTOP_BUILD_*_ARCHIVE_DEFAULT` references remain outside
CHANGELOG/history.
- Desktop node tests: 4168 pass, 0 fail.
- `just desktop-tauri-check`: clean.
- `just desktop-tauri-test`: all pass.

The cause of *that* spread is rAF loop rate: the higher figure came from a free-running loop at ~1600fps. Throttled to ~200–236fps, both rigs read 58–68 µs/Mpx (1.25–1.44% of a 60Hz frame). The busy-composite figures quoted above remain the **unthrottled worst case** and are conservative by ~2.3× at the pane. fix(security): bump nostr crates for RUSTSEC-2026-0225..0232 + default sprig image to published digest (#4392)
## What Two changes, both fallout/follow-up from #4289 landing: ### 1. Fix the Security job failing on main (lockfile-only) Eight RUSTSEC advisories published today against the nostr stack turned `cargo-deny check` advisories red on main ([failing run](https://github.com/block/buzz/actions/runs/30761611723/job/91533106673)). Not introduced by #4289 — the advisories landed upstream and any push to main today would have tripped them. - **RUSTSEC-2026-0225..0230** → `nostr` 0.44.6 → **0.44.7** (Debug output exposing NIP-46/NIP-60 credentials; wallet parsers accepting unauthenticated events; NIP-44/NIP-04/NIP-98 resource exhaustion; NIP-50 empty-filter panic) - **RUSTSEC-2026-0231..0232** → `nostr-relay-pool` 0.44.2 (root) / 0.44.1 (tauri) → **0.44.3** (auth-challenge memory exhaustion; processing of unverified relay events) Both workspace lockfiles bumped (`Cargo.lock`, `desktop/src-tauri/Cargo.lock`). No manifest changes. ### 2. Default the desktop GUI's sprig image to the published `ghcr.io/block/buzz-sprig` The first main-push after #4289 published the image publicly (package created 18:44Z, visibility `public`). The `config_schema()`'s `image` property now carries a `default`: ``` ghcr.io/block/buzz-sprig:sha-6530b58@sha256:17facfc7608d8ddb33bc056c9aaba1098f4ef6abe5655702fbfd7584d1f74d76 ``` **Why tag+digest, not tag:** the backend deliberately rejects tag-only references — the pod runs with the agent's nsec and tags are mutable pointers (`image.rs` §Image). The tag+digest form keeps the human-traceable `sha-6530b58` while the digest does the pinning; `image::parse` already normalizes it to the tagless canonical form, so create-intent fingerprints are identical to the bare-digest spelling. The digest is the **multi-arch manifest-list digest** (amd64+arm64), resolved via `docker buildx imagetools inspect`. **This is a UI prefill, not a baked fallback:** `image` stays in the schema's `required` list, an empty value still fails closed with a named field, and the desktop submits the value explicitly in `provider_config` (the `WhereToRunSection` probe seeds `providerConfig` from schema defaults) — so deploy fingerprints never depend on compiled-in provider state, and the spec's §K8s pod-reconciliation concern about baked-default divergence is not engaged. Module prose that said "no published image exists yet" is updated to match reality. Relands **#2467** (extract `buzz-voice` crate) and **#3208** (Pocket
voice settings) onto main, after #3266 and #3180 merged.
## Why a fresh PR
The repo is squash-only with delete-branch-on-merge. Squashing #3266
deleted `jtennant/pocket-tts-2026-04`, which was #2467's base — GitHub
auto-closed #2467 and it cannot be reopened. Squash merges also sever
ancestry, so GitHub's natural merge-base reports phantom conflicts for
the whole remaining stack.

- Byte-identical to the blessed `jt/buzz-voice-refactor` branch
(`93029c577`, tree `6729e0eff` — reviewed by Dawn (#2467) and Max

feat(mobile): desktop-parity emoji and thread experience (#3485)
Brings the Flutter app's emoji and thread surfaces up to desktop parity. ## Emoji - **Full emoji-mart dataset** generated from the same `@emoji-mart/data` set desktop uses (1,870 emoji, 8 categories), committed as an asset — so shortcodes, names, and keywords are identical across clients. `just mobile-emoji-data` regenerates it. - **Rebuilt the tray**: search (a Dart port of desktop's tiered `emojiSearch` ranking, extended to names and keywords), a frequently-used section, and one continuous scroll with pinned section headers. The category rail is a shortcut into that list, not a page switcher, and spans the full width the search field uses. Custom emoji share the native glyph size and cell. - **Reaction pills** match desktop's geometry, and the count shows at 1. - **Emoji-only messages** render at 36px with 1.45em inline custom emoji, matching desktop's `emojiOnly` treatment. - **Positive-emoji burst** ported from desktop's `EmojiBurstProvider`, suppressed under reduced motion. ## Threads - **Top-down layout** — head first under the app bar, replies flowing down, like desktop's thread panel. The old reversed list bottom-anchored the content and jammed the head against the composer. - **Tap a channel message to open its thread**; long-press still opens the action sheet. - **Live reactions.** The thread's relay query is one-shot and its `kinds` filter carries only content rows, so a reaction event could not reach an open thread at all, and `allMessages` was a snapshot frozen when the route was pushed — a new pill only appeared after leaving and re-entering, which refetched. The live channel events are now unioned into the thread's list. The burst is also route-guarded, since the channel timeline stays mounted underneath and was claiming it first. - The `+` affordance follows the channel: replies stay bare until they carry a reaction, and the head keeps a standing `+`. ## Keyboard A deliberate downward drag past ~48px dismisses the keyboard; short scrolls leave it alone. Applies to the channel list, the thread list, and the compose bar (via a raw `Listener`, so it can't steal the field's tap or selection drags). True finger-tracking dismissal is out of scope — Flutter only offers `manual`/`onDrag`, and 1:1 tracking needs a native `UIScrollView` proxy plus Android's `WindowInsetsAnimationController`. ## Testing `just mobile-check` and `just mobile-test` pass (965 tests). fix(cli): resolve agents from owner records (#3178)
## Context
`buzz users get --name Honey` searches relay-wide profiles and can
return an identically named agent owned by someone else. This caused
agents from the wrong owner to be added to a channel.
## Summary
This bug fix scopes exact-name agent lookup to owner-authored
managed-agent records, then cryptographically verifies each returned
profile's NIP-OA `auth` tag before asserting ownership. The relay and
database contracts remain unchanged.
### Related issue
None found.
## Changes
- Adds `buzz users get --name Honey --owner me|<hex>|<npub>`.
- Resolves `me` to the NIP-OA owner when the CLI runs as an agent,
otherwise to the CLI identity.
- Matches kind `30177` managed-agent record names exactly and
case-insensitively under the requested owner.
- Requires exactly one valid NIP-OA `auth` tag whose verified owner
equals the requested owner and whose `kind` and `created_at` conditions
apply to the profile event before returning `owner_pubkey` or
`owned_by_me: true`.
- Keeps missing, malformed, stale, condition-mismatched, or unverifiable
owner-record candidates visible with `owned_by_me: false` and an
explicit `verification` value.
- Returns every same-name record for the owner so callers can require
explicit selection when duplicates remain.
- Preserves the existing output shape and client-side name filter for
unscoped searches.
- Documents the distinct owner-scoped managed-agent lookup and unscoped
NIP-50 lookup modes.
### Testing
The reviewer-reproducible red and green commands below exercise the
ownership bug against the target branch and this branch.

feat(mobile): add worktree-aware debug identities (#2858)
**Category:** improvement **User Impact:** Developers can identify which worktree produced a mobile debug app, keep a bounded set of worktree builds installed side by side, and preserve each worktree app's login and local state while switching branches. **Problem:** Mobile debug builds from every checkout currently appear as the same “Buzz” app and share one application identity, so the running source is ambiguous and one worktree build replaces another. A branch-keyed identity would avoid replacement but create stale installs and fresh app state on every branch switch. **Solution:** Give each linked worktree a stable Debug-only application identity derived from its sanitized directory name. Show the sanitized branch name (or short commit SHA when detached) in the display label, persist generated native overrides for direct IDE builds, and leave Release/Profile identities unchanged. fix(justfile): suppress grep exit code in release changelog formatter
The `format_log` function parses PR numbers from commit subjects via a `grep -oE` pipeline. Commits without a PR suffix (e.g. "Update README.md") cause `grep` to exit 1, which `set -euo pipefail` promotes to a script failure — even though the empty-match case is already handled. |
